Precise Radial Velocity (PRV) technique has played an essential role in detection and characterization extra-solar planets in the past few decades. With the scientific success of Kepler mission, exoplanet research has entered an era of space-based transiting planet studies. However, the RPV follow-up is still the bottleneck of the confirmation and characterization of small planets. The state-of-the-art astro-comb can provide a series of frequency standards with uniform intensities over a large wavelength range, and therefore is considered to be the next-generation calibration source in PRV measurements. In this talk, I will briefly review the history, method and limitations of the PRV technique, and report the latest result from the test operation of the laser frequency comb in FOCES spectrograph.
